For acclaimed Japanese studio FromSoftware, things are certainly busy. Renowned as the masterminds behind the Soulslike genre, the studio has not only revisited its classic mecha franchise with Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, but has also expanded the Elden Ring universe with the multiplayer-focused title Elden Ring Nightreign. Now, it appears that FromSoftware has another surprise in the works.
While it’s already known that the studio is deep into development on The Duskbloods, a PvPvE experience reportedly designed for the Nintendo Switch 2, new reports suggest that this is not the only game currently in the pipeline. According to a report from MP1st, the developer is also working on a second title under the internal codename, FMC.
MP1st indicate that FMC is a separate project from The Duskbloods. In contrast, FMC is reportedly a multi-platform release, which should bode well for those looking forward to something new from the studio that is not tied to a single platform.

What is FromSoftware Working on?
Even more interesting, development on FMC is reportedly progressing smoothly enough that a 2026 release window is now being considered. However, no concrete details about the game’s genre, story, or gameplay mechanics have been revealed at this stage.
What exactly FMC stands for remains a mystery. However, based on FromSoftware’s previous internal naming conventions, only two major franchises have ever used a codename beginning with the letter F, Armored Core and Dark Souls.
This has led to growing speculation that FMC could be one of three possibilities: a brand-new Armored Core installment, a paid expansion or DLC for Armored Core VI, or the long-rumoured Dark Souls III Remastered.
As of now, there has been no official confirmation from FromSoftware. However, it is widely believed that the official announcement may be made during one of the major gaming events scheduled for the remainder of 2025, such as Gamescom or the Tokyo Game Show.
