Another day, another video game is being adapted into a series, and this time around, it might just get more attention than the usual affair. As revealed exclusively by Variety, the acclaimed first-person shooter series Wolfenstein is the next television series that will come out of Amazon MGM Studios.
While there are no concrete details just yet about what the series will cover in terms of plot, it is not shying away from the main gist of the franchise. The official logline is as direct as they come: “The story of killing Nazis is evergreen”.
For fans who have been loving the Fallout series by Amazon, there is plenty of optimism here that Wolfenstein will enjoy the same success. The same producers are behind the wheel here, with Kilter Films’ involvement led by Jonah Nolan, Lisa Joy, and Athena Wickham as executive producers.
Patrick Somerville is the headliner behind the scenes, with his role as creator, writer, executive producer, and showrunner under chaoticgood.tv. Somerville has stated that he is a fan of the shooter series, and if that is true, we could be in for a wild and entertaining ride.
Why Wolfenstein Can Work as a Television Series

Considering the current state of the world’s politics, there will always be room for stories that depict good triumphing over evil. The entire Wolfenstein franchise casts players as the one not just to stop the Nazis, but also their dastardly experiments with the occult.
Starting with Castle Wolfenstein in 1981, the franchise has since produced 13 other games. Modern interpretations by MachineGames and Bethesda have been big hits, and continue to keep the series in mind for many fans of the genre.
The central star is World War II veteran William “B.J.” Blazkowicz, who has accrued years of victories and losses, fighting hard to bring down the Third Reich in all its forms.
Other than this latest attempt at bringing video games to a bigger audience, Amazon is also working on a Mass Effect television series, a God of War adaptation, as well as a project on Warhammer 40,000 with Henry Cavill.
