How many of you have missed the eerie, tension-filled horror atmosphere of Little Nightmares? If you’re among those yearning for that unique blend of surreal terror and emotional storytelling, 2026 is shaping up to be a promising year. While Little Nightmares III is moving forward under the wing of Bandai Namco with new developer Supergiant Games, the original minds behind the first two entries, Tarsier Studios, are back with a spiritual successor of their own with THQ Nordic: REANIMAL. And now, this haunting new title finally has an official release window.
After releasing a chilling trailer and a set of atmospheric screenshots, Tarsier Studios has confirmed that REANIMAL will launch in the first quarter of 2026.
Visually and tonally, the game clearly echoes their earlier work, with unsettling environments, grotesque creatures, and a world that feels both fantastical and nightmarish in equal measure.
What is REANIMAL?
Tarsier describes REANIMAL as a “horror game with hope” where players will take on the role of an orphaned sibling duo who must navigate a literal hellscape in search of their missing friends. Much like their previous titles, this new adventure will feature gameplay that blends stealth, puzzle-solving, and survival mechanics. Whether playing solo or in co-op mode, players must rely on cooperation and clever thinking to overcome the nightmarish threats that await.
Adding to its intrigue, the game will offer explorable side areas beyond the main story path. These optional zones aim to deepen the lore and provide further insight into the disturbing yet strangely beautiful world the game presents.

With its rich atmosphere, emotional core, and spine-chilling visuals, the game is poised to be one of the standout horror titles of the year. REANIMAL is scheduled to launch in Q1 2026, with no exact release date announced yet. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
