Assassin’s Creed Mirage Free Story DLC Announced at Gamescom 2025
Ubisoft’s Ongoing Support
Ubisoft continues to extend its live-service approach to single-player experiences, confirming that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will receive a free story DLC. First released in 2023, Mirage marked a return to the franchise’s roots with a tighter, stealth-driven design, and now Ubisoft is revisiting the title with fresh content.
A Surprise Gamescom Reveal
The announcement was made during the closing moments of Gamescom 2025, catching many fans off guard. The new chapter will take protagonist Basim to Al-Ula, an ancient desert city in Saudi Arabia known for its oasis setting and striking architecture.
Alongside the story expansion, Ubisoft confirmed that the update will also deliver gameplay refinements and quality-of-life improvements across all platforms.
Why Al-Ula?
Al-Ula stands out as a significant choice for Assassin’s Creed’s historical storytelling. Recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the location boasts more than 7,000 years of history and is home to iconic ruins carved into cliffs. Its cultural depth and unique desert environment make it a natural fit for the Assassin’s Creed universe.
However, speculation has already surfaced that Ubisoft’s decision may be tied to investment partnerships in the region. Ubisoft has declined to comment on the rumours.

The free story DLC for Assassin’s Creed Mirage is planned to arrive sometime in 2025. While no specific release date has been provided, the expansion will be available on all platforms where the base game is currently supported.
