Honkai: Nexus Anima Officially Announced — HoYoVerse’s New Creature-Collector RPG

Honkai: Nexus Anima

From Rumours to Reality

After months of speculation, HoYoVerse has officially announced Honkai: Nexus Anima, the latest entry in the Honkai franchise. Early whispers suggested something similar to Animal Crossing, but the reveal shows an entirely different direction — one rooted in creature collecting and strategy combat.

What Is Honkai: Nexus Anima?

HoYoVerse describes the project as a “Creature-Collector Adventure Strategy Game.” Gameplay appears to draw inspiration from auto-battle titles like Teamfight Tactics and DOTA Underlords, with players commanding adorable creatures called Anima, each tied to opposing cosmic forces.

Set in the world of Nexus, the narrative explores themes of balance between Love vs. Hate, Life vs. Death, and Light vs. Darkness. A mysterious event scatters these primal forces into living creatures, the Anima, destabilising the world’s equilibrium.

Players take on the role of a traveller capable of shifting worlds, forming bonds with Anima through exploration and combat. Along the way, they’ll uncover hidden truths about Nexus and their own past. As with other Honkai games, fans can expect high-quality storytelling, distinctive anime visuals, and deep worldbuilding.

Closed Beta: The Nexus Bond Test

HoYoVerse has also announced an upcoming closed beta called The Nexus Bond Test.

  • Registration Period: Until 12 September 2025
  • Platforms: PC and iOS
  • How to Join: Players can register via the official website

With Honkai: Star Rail continuing strong and Genshin Impact approaching its fifth anniversary, Honkai: Nexus Anima represents HoYoVerse’s bold step into a new genre. If successful, it could merge the popularity of auto-battle strategy with the collector-driven appeal of gacha RPGs, expanding the Honkai brand into fresh territory.
