Yakuza Kiwami 3 Announced at TGS 2025, Launches February 2026
At Tokyo Game Show 2025 and part of the RGG Summit 2025, SEGA and RGG Studio officially confirmed that Yakuza 3 is being remade as Yakuza Kiwami 3. The announcement comes after the latest entry in the expanding series, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, and signals SEGA’s continued commitment to expanding the franchise’s legacy for new and veteran fans alike.
What It Means
Kiwami, which translates to extreme in Japanese, is the label given to RGG’s remake projects of earlier Yakuza titles. Previous remakes — Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 — rebuilt the original games with modern technology, updated visuals, and new features.
Yakuza Kiwami 3 will follow suit, powered by the Dragon Engine, the same framework behind modern entries like Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Lost Judgment.
Modern Enhancements and Dark Ties
Beyond upgraded visuals and refined combat, Yakuza Kiwami 3 introduces several new features:
- Fully overhauled character models
- Expanded cutscenes to flesh out the story
- Full English dubbing support for the first time
Perhaps the most notable addition is Yakuza 3: Dark Ties, a new episode focusing on Yoshitaka Mine, one of the game’s central figures. This side story promises to expand Mine’s role, offering fresh perspectives that tie into the core narrative.
Release Date and Platforms
With updated visuals, new content, and a release date locked in, the game looks set to bring one of the franchise’s most emotional chapters to a new generation.
Yakuza Kiwami 3 will launch on February 12, 2026. The game will be available across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, ensuring fans can experience the remake on their platform of choice.
