Konami Confirms Progress on Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2
Franchise Revival Continues
Konami has reaffirmed its commitment to the Metal Gear Solid franchise with an update on Master Collection Vol. 2. The news arrives on the heels of renewed enthusiasm for the series, sparked by the success of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.
While Snake Eater’s revival has dominated headlines, many fans have been waiting for news on Master Collection Vol. 2 — a compilation that could finally make several legacy titles accessible on modern platforms.
Update from the Production Hotline
Speaking during the latest Metal Gear Production Hotline, series producer Noriaki Okamura confirmed that development on Vol. 2 is “very much in progress.” Okamura explained that parts of the collection were developed in parallel with Delta, though he did not commit to a release date.
He assured fans that the project is moving forward smoothly and that further updates will be provided when the team is ready to share more. For now, he asked players to remain patient.
Spotlight on Guns of the Patriots
Much of the excitement around the next volume centres on speculation that it could finally bring Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots to modern platforms. The 2008 title has remained a PlayStation 3 exclusive for over 15 years, frustrating fans who have long requested a rerelease.
Other potential inclusions being discussed within the community are Peace Walker and Ground Zeroes, though Konami has not confirmed the final line-up.
Looking Ahead
Whether or not Guns of the Patriots makes the cut, Konami’s messaging makes one thing clear: the company intends to keep the Metal Gear franchise alive, building on both remakes and compilations to preserve its legacy for new and returning players.
