Keepers of the Flame Revives a Classic League with New Power and Mystery

The Breach Reignites in Path of Exile

Grinding Gear Games has revealed that Path of Exile: Keepers of the Flame will launch on October 31, bringing players back to the realm of the Breach with a dark new twist. The latest expansion introduces a suite of major updates, including the long-awaited Asynchronous Trade system, Bloodline Ascendancy Classes, new Uber Pinnacle bosses, and a collection of quality-of-life improvements inspired directly by player feedback.

At its core, Keepers of the Flame serves as the franchise’s first-ever direct sequel to a past league, revisiting the Breach’s chaotic energy through a new story featuring Ailith, founder of the Keepers of the Flame.

This is a secretive monastic order sworn to protect Wraeclast from the Breachlords’ growing influence. Players must aid Ailith in sealing dimensional tears, battling monstrous invaders, and confronting Vruun, Marshal of Xesht, in sprawling endgame encounters filled with horrors from beyond.

The Genesis Tree and the Art of Unholy Creation

Central to this expansion is the Genesis Tree, a sinister contraption housed within the Keepers’ Monastery. As players cull Breach infestations, they can nurture this tree to sprout new limbs that yield powerful rewards, including unique equipment, currency, and Grafts, a new system of grotesque augmentations that fuse directly with the Exile’s body.

Each Graft bestows unique powers, such as summoning massive arms from the earth or unleashing tracking ice tornadoes that explode upon critical hits. As the Genesis Tree matures, it generates Foulborn currency, enabling further mutations for even deadlier results.

Bloodline Ascendancies and New Skills

Keepers of the Flame introduces ten Bloodline Ascendancy Classes, each linked to the bosses of past leagues. Players unlock these ascensions by defeating endgame enemies and can allocate points between their main Ascendancy and their Bloodline Class to craft a truly hybrid build.

Alongside these new Ascendancies are powerful Skill and Support Gems, such as Kinetic Rain, which floods the battlefield with unstable energy, and Living Lightning Support, summoning mobile sparks of elemental fury. Together, they expand the tactical depth of combat while inviting new experimental builds for Exiles eager to test their mettle.

Trading, Quality of Life, and Endgame Rewards

After years of community requests, Path of Exile finally introduces Asynchronous Trade, allowing players to list and sell items even while offline. Players can now trade more freely by using Merchant Tabs managed by Faustus, formerly of the Currency Exchange in Lioneye’s Watch.

The update also enhances endgame content with three new Uber Pinnacle boss encounters, drawn from the fractured memories of Zana herself. Accessing these challenges requires fragments dropped by Tier 17 bosses, promising powerful rewards for those who survive.

Numerous quality-of-life improvements have also been implemented, including the ability to instantly respec passive trees using Gold, fully levelled Heist Rogues, and a smoother crafting workflow.

A League Worthy of the Keepers

The Keepers Challenge League offers forty new objectives for players to conquer, with rewards culminating in the striking Keeper of the Flame Armour Set, a fitting tribute to the order’s fiery devotion.

To mark the expansion’s release, Grinding Gear Games is also offering two new Supporter Packs — Champion of Theopolis and Verdant Magus — available in multiple tiers with exclusive cosmetic effects.

Path of Exile: Keepers of the Flame releases on October 31, promising an inferno of new challenges, deeper systems, and a return to one of the game’s most beloved eras.
