Begin the Journey of Octopath Traveler 0
Square Enix has announced that a free demo for Octopath Traveler 0 is now available on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with the Steam version arriving on November 13.
Players can experience the opening hours of the game, with all progress carrying over to the full release on December 4, 2025.
This news comes alongside the reveal of a new story trailer, setting the stage for a brand new adventure for the role-playing series.
A Glimpse into Orsterra
The demo allows players to create their own custom protagonist and embark on a personal journey following the destruction of their hometown. It features up to three hours of content, covering the Prologue and Chapter 1 of the Master of Wealth, Master of Power, and Master of Fame storylines. Players can also access Chapter 1 of the Kindlers of the Flame arc, which introduces a new Town Building feature that allows them to begin restoring their hometown of Wishvale.
Set in the world of Orsterra, Octopath Traveler 0 tells a tale of restoration and retribution surrounding the divine rings. It retains the classic elements that define the series, including HD-2D visuals, Path Actions, and the Break and Boost battle system, while introducing full protagonist customisation and the ability to rebuild an entire town.
Pre-Orders and Editions
Pre-orders are now open for Octopath Traveler 0 across all major platforms.
Available versions include:
- Standard Edition: Base game (physical or digital)
- Digital Deluxe Edition: Base game, Deluxe Travel Provisions, Digital Art Book, and additional Action Skills such as Triple Strike Mastery and SP Saver Mastery
- Collector’s Edition (console only): Includes a physical copy of the game, Ring of the Flamebringer replica, 8-sided dice, playing cards, a map gaming mat, soundtrack CD, art booklet, and collectible travel items
Players who pre-order will receive Travel Provisions, a Support Pack with five Healing Grape (M), five Inspiriting Plum (M), and two Revitalizing Jams, along with the Icewind Mastery Action Skill.
Save Data Bonus and Continuing the Journey
Square Enix is also running a Save Data Bonus Campaign that rewards players with exclusive in-game items if they have play data from previous Square Enix titles such as Octopath Traveler, Octopath Traveler II, Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD Remaster, or the Dragon Quest HD-2D remakes.
With its new town-building system, reimagined narrative arcs, and the series’ signature HD-2D aesthetic, Octopath Traveler 0 aims to deliver both nostalgia and new beginnings for fans of Square Enix’s beloved RPG series.
Octopath Traveler 0 will launch globally on December 4 for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game will feature Japanese voice acting with text available in English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish.
