Level Infinite Joins Shift Up’s Secretive New IP Project Spirits
A Second Major Project Moves Forward
The Stellar Blade sequel may have dominated most of the recent conversation around Shift Up, which is understandable given the anticipation. However, the Korean studio has been building a second large-scale title in parallel.
Known only as Project Spirits, the game has remained largely hidden from public view, with no official gameplay reveal to date. Despite this secrecy, the project has now taken a meaningful step forward with the confirmation of its publishing partner.
Level Infinite Steps In as Publisher
As reported by Automaton, Shift Up has announced that Level Infinite, Tencent’s global publishing label, will officially publish Project Spirits. The decision reflects the scale of the studio’s ambition for the new IP. Project Spirits is planned as a multiplatform release for PC, consoles, and mobile, suggesting a broad international push supported by a major distribution network.
This partnership is a natural evolution of an existing relationship. Level Infinite already oversees global publishing for Goddess of Victory Nikke, the wildly successful gacha shooter that remains one of Shift Up’s strongest revenue pillars. Extending that collaboration to Project Spirits ensures consistency in global marketing, infrastructure, and community management.

Tencent Plays a Larger Role in Development
Beyond publishing support, Tencent is also involved in the creative process. Shift Up confirmed that Project Spirits is being co-developed with Yongxing Interactive, a Tencent-owned studio. The goal is to build a fantasy world inspired by Eastern cultural influences, using Unreal Engine 5 as the foundation for both visual fidelity and technical expansion.
This marks one of Shift Up’s most collaborative endeavours to date. With Tencent’s resources and engineering power behind the project, Project Spirits is positioned to operate on a scale far larger than the studio’s earlier works.
A 2027 Vision Still Wrapped in Mystery
While the infrastructure surrounding the game continues to grow, the game itself remains unseen. Shift Up has not revealed any artwork, characters, or gameplay snippets. What has been confirmed is the planned release window of 2027, giving the team considerable time to refine an entirely new fantasy universe.
The silence is unusual by modern industry standards, but Shift Up appears committed to unveiling Project Spirits only when the game reaches a certain level of polish. Until then, anticipation continues to build around the project’s eventual debut.
