Lords of the Fallen II Debuts Soulslike Gameplay and Dismemberment System During TGA Reveal
CI Games Premieres First Gameplay Look for the 2026 Sequel
CI Games has been preparing, and at The Game Awards 2025, the studio unveiled the first gameplay footage for Lords of the Fallen II, offering a brutal and cinematic showcase of the sequel’s expanded soulslike combat.
The new trailer, set to Ghost’s cover of “It’s a Sin,” highlighted towering enemies, sweeping environments and the series’ signature dual-realm identity. The game is built on Unreal Engine 5 and is scheduled to launch in 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via the Epic Games Store.
The footage demonstrated a sharper visual direction and a faster combat rhythm than the 2023 reboot, teasing several large-scale encounters that underline the game’s shift toward more aggressive enemy behaviour and greater combat mobility.
New Combat Systems and First Boss Showcase
Lords of the Fallen II continues the series’ focus on worlds shaped by clashing gods and death-soaked histories. Set one thousand years after the defeat of Adyr, players take on the role of the Lampbearer, standing against the encroaching forces of Umbral and its eldritch master.
CI Games confirmed several new combat features, most notably a dismemberment system that allows players to sever limbs mid-fight, alongside a suite of new execution animations that reflect a rawer, more visceral design philosophy. Combat speed has been increased, with expanded enemy variety and refined boss patterns.
The trailer offered a first look at three major bosses:
- Heartroot Warden, a metal-clad giant carrying a chain-wrapped greatsword.
- Koydreth, a winged adversary striking from a rune-marked mirror realm.
- Lingao the Souring Storm, a colossal dragon wielding wind and lightning.
Lords of the Fallen II will also support shared progression co-op and optional PvP, with CI Games describing it as their most ambitious soulslike to date. Game Director James Lowe called the showcase “just the beginning,” noting that the community’s response to the speed and brutality of the new combat will help shape the months ahead.

Version 2.5 Update Arrives for Lords of the Fallen (2023)
Alongside the sequel reveal, CI Games launched Version 2.5 for Lords of the Fallen (2023), marking the final major update for the current title. The patch introduces extensive reworks to enemy behaviour, boss logic and encounter pacing across both Legacy Mode and the new Veteran Mode.
Key update highlights include:
- More aggressive and varied boss movesets
- Improved cooldown logic for mini-bosses
- Faster spell recovery and increased pressure from standard enemies
- New signature attack animations for several boss weapons
Veteran Mode also provides a final reward, the Veteran of the Veil breastplate, offering a unique item drop bonus. CEO Marek Tymiński emphasised that the update reflects over seventy patches shaped by feedback from more than six million players.
Lords of the Fallen II will drop further updates throughout 2026 ahead of its global launch.
