Double Stallion Opens the Doors to Surfpunk
First Hands-On Arrives Ahead of Early Access
Montreal-based developer Double Stallion has officially launched the public demo for Surfpunk on PC via Steam, giving players their first opportunity to dive into the studio’s high-speed, surf-driven co-op ARPG.
The demo is available now and serves as an early look at the game’s planned early access release in 2026.
To mark the demo launch, Double Stallion will host a live developer Q&A on Discord on December 17, where the team will play through the demo and answer community questions about Surfpunk’s mechanics, progression systems, and long-term plans.
A Co-op ARPG Built Around Speed and Momentum
Surfpunk is a 1 to 4 player co-op PvE action RPG built around fluid movement, improvisation, and teamwork. Players take on the role of Raiders, a band of surfer pirates navigating The Fallen World, a tropical archipelago left fractured by a cataclysmic event.
Using high-speed Rushboards, players hop between islands, tow loot barges, and fight back against relentless Sumi swarms, blending melee combat, traversal, and resource management into fast-paced runs that reward coordination and adaptability.
What’s Included in the Demo
The Surfpunk demo offers a sizeable slice of the full experience. Players can expect around five hours of core content, with up to 10 hours available for those who explore all difficulty tiers and unlockables.
The demo supports online co-op for up to four players, features four mission difficulty levels, and introduces the first dynamic weather modifier, Storm, which actively alters combat conditions. Players can also sample NPC quests, early character customisation, and a preview of weapon-based skill progression.
Four weapon classes are available to test, each filling a distinct role. These include the fast and agile Sword, explosive Pistols, the heavy Anchor with stance-switching utility, and the Guitar, a timing-based support weapon focused on buffs and area control. Players can also meet and interact with Bingus, the game’s resident seadog.
Crafting on the Fly and High-Stakes Escapes
Crafting plays an active role during missions, allowing players to harvest resources mid-run and create tools such as ladders, explosives, and improvised gadgets. As time passes and more loot is collected, enemy pressure ramps up, culminating in a frantic escape sequence where players must outrun a massive tsunami and surf back to safety.

Between runs, players return to the Beastship, a floating hub where loot can be converted into upgrades, cosmetics, new weapons, and abilities. The Beastship also serves as a social space to pick up side quests and prepare for future expeditions.
The islands in Surfpunk are procedurally generated, ensuring that no two sessions play out the same, with shifting layouts, enemy encounters, and emergent moments driving replayability.
The Surfpunk demo is now available on Steam.
