Ghost Keeper Moves Beyond Its Demo Success
Following a well-received demo debut during Steam Scream Fest 2025, Ghost Keeper is officially taking its next step. Developers Quest Craft have confirmed that the game will launch on Steam Early Access on January 28, giving players access to a significantly expanded version of its reverse-horror strategy experience.
The demo, released around Halloween last year, earned an 84% positive rating on Steam, helping establish early interest in its unusual premise and tone. With that feedback, the team is ready to broaden the game’s scope and deliver a more complete experience for players.
The Early Access version of Ghost Keeper will arrive with a substantial amount of content. At launch, players will have access to seven controllable characters, six distinct Victorian-era locations, and a dedicated sandbox mode that unlocks after completing the story content.
The game will be priced at US$12.99 during Early Access, positioning it as an accessible entry point for players interested in strategy titles with a darker, more playful twist.
A Reverse Take on Horror Strategy
Unlike traditional horror games, Ghost Keeper flips the perspective. Players command ghosts, demons, and other grotesque creatures, using fear as a resource to drive humans from places that rightfully belong to the supernatural.
Each minion comes with its own abilities, encouraging careful planning and tactical deployment. While many human opponents are easily frightened, others are far more dangerous. As players progress, they will encounter resistance from the Brotherhood of Light, an organised force capable of countering supernatural threats and disrupting carefully laid plans.
The result is a blend of strategy and puzzle design wrapped in a light-horror presentation, balanced by exaggerated visuals and a dose of dark humour.
Story-Driven Progression and Sandbox Freedom
During Early Access, Ghost Keeper is positioned as a single-player, story-driven experience. Players will move through six large locations, each structured as a complex mission with evolving objectives. A guided tutorial gradually introduces mechanics, teaching players how to combine monster abilities with environmental manipulation to overcome human resistance.

Completing the Early Access storyline unlocks the sandbox mode, allowing players to revisit previously cleared locations and experiment freely with different monsters, tactics, and approaches. This mode is designed to highlight player creativity, reinforcing the idea that there is never a single correct solution to any scenario.
With its Early Access launch, Ghost Keeper is aiming to build on the foundations laid by its demo, expanding content and systems based on ongoing player feedback.
