Kena: Scars of Kosmora Announced for PS5 and PC
Ember Lab has officially unveiled Kena: Scars of Kosmora, the next chapter in its award-winning action-adventure series. The sequel is set to launch in 2026 on PlayStation 5 and PC, marking Kena’s return for a larger, more ambitious journey, as showcased at the State of Play presentation.
Following the success of Kena: Bridge of Spirits, the studio has opted to continue exploring the Spirit Guide’s world rather than move to a completely new setting. This time, however, players will encounter a more experienced and renowned Kena, shaped by past trials and ready to confront a fresh mystery.
A New Island and a Broken Staff
Scars of Kosmora sends Kena to the mysterious island of Kosmora, a land defined by distinct cultures, fractured regions, and a tragic history buried beneath its surface. The story begins with a devastating encounter that shatters Kena’s staff, an artefact central to her identity and survival.
Without it, Kena must embrace an older, forgotten form of Spirit Guiding rooted in alchemy. This new discipline allows her to manipulate elemental forces, introducing fresh mechanics that promise to deepen both combat and exploration in Kena: Scars of Kosmora.
The narrative direction suggests a more introspective arc, with Kena seeking answers to a lifelong affliction while navigating a land steeped in sorrow and corruption.
Elemental Spirit Companions and Evolved Combat
Spirit companions remain a core pillar of the experience, but they now play an even more strategic role. Each elemental spirit aligns with a specific force of nature, growing stronger as bonds deepen and unlocking new abilities tied to Kosmora’s world.
Combat has been expanded with elemental infusions and new skills designed to reflect Kena’s maturity as a Spirit Guide. Encounters will demand more deliberate use of companion abilities and environmental manipulation, particularly during larger boss battles.
Ember Lab has emphasised that while new systems will add depth, the emotional heart of the series remains intact in Kena: Scars of Kosmora. Players can expect an adventure built around tightly designed regions and deliberate progression rather than an unfocused open world.

A Bigger World, Same Emotional Core
While specific story details remain under wraps, the studio has made clear that Scars of Kosmora aims to deliver a heartfelt experience for both returning players and newcomers.
With PlayStation Studios supporting development, Ember Lab has expanded its scope, focusing on crafted environments and meaningful exploration. If Bridge of Spirits established Kena’s world, Scars of Kosmora appears poised to refine and strengthen it.
Kena: Scars of Kosmora is scheduled to launch in 2026 on PlayStation 5 and PC.
