Path of Exile: Mirage Launches in March With New League & Major Endgame Overhaul

Path of Exile: Mirage Arrives March 7

Grinding Gear Games has unveiled Path of Exile: Mirage, the next major expansion for its long-running action RPG, launching March 7.

Mirage introduces a brand-new league mechanic centred around ancient Djinn, alongside one of the most significant endgame overhauls for the excellent Path of Exile in recent years.

The Mirage League and Djinn Encounters

At the heart of the update is the Mirage League, where players confront the Afarud, a sect of necromancers who have imprisoned Djinn across Wraeclast.

Defeating their warlocks allows players to enter Mirages, fractured copies of maps that replicate much of the original content and enhancements. This system enables players to effectively replay and amplify encounters, doubling up on mechanics such as Strongboxes, Blights and Legions with added risks and rewards.

Before entering a Mirage, players can choose from powerful Wishes that reshape the experience, with new currencies used to corrupt max-level skill gems for additional support effects. The league also introduces a new endgame boss, Saresh of the Weeping Black, who offers exclusive Unique item rewards in Path of Exile: Mirage.

Major Endgame Overhaul

Path of Exile: Mirage delivers sweeping changes to the Atlas system as well. Maps are no longer tied to specific layouts, instead allowing players to select map layouts directly from tiered map items on the Atlas.

Shaped Regions and Arcane Astrolabes further modify groups of maps, increasing encounter density and culminating in powerful rewards within Memory Vaults. Several legacy systems have been removed or streamlined, including the elimination of Cartographer’s Chisels and Map Device Crafts, as well as the removal of Tier 17 maps.

In their place comes the Originator Voidstone, enabling bosses to drop more than 40 new Exceptional Support Gems. These are designed to replace the Awakened Support system, offering transformative gameplay effects rather than incremental stat boosts.

Holy Skills and the Reliquarian Ascendancy

In addition, Path of Exile: Mirage introduces a new suite of Holy-themed skills, including Holy Hammer, Holy Sweep and Divine Blast, alongside new support gems tailored for divine and melee playstyles. A new Scion Ascendancy class, The Reliquarian, offers unique passive options drawn from powerful Unique items, providing a highly flexible build path that will rotate between expansions.

Existing Ascendancies, such as Guardian and Warden, have also been reworked to expand Templar archetypes.

Quality of Life and Core Changes

The Keepers of the Flame system is going core, replacing the old Breach mechanic with updated Atlas and Scarab support.

Additional quality-of-life improvements include favourite trades in the Currency Exchange, stash access while UI menus are open, improved trade previews, and automatic Divination Card reward granting.

Supporter Packs, a new Vault Pass and challenge rewards will launch alongside the expansion. With a new league mechanic, systemic Atlas overhaul and a sweeping rework of support gems, Path of Exile: Mirage has all the makings of one of the game’s most ambitious updates to date.
