Ratatan Locks In Console Launch Date
Ratata Arts has officially confirmed that Ratatan will launch on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 on July 16 worldwide, as the game moves into 1.0 on PC. The announcement was made during Nintendo’s latest Indie World Showcase, where the Switch 2 version was also shown publicly for the first time.
Currently available via Steam Early Access on PC, the rhythm-driven roguelite now prepares for its full console rollout.
From Early Access to Full-Scale Launch
As we noted in our Early Access review, Ratatan confidently builds on the musical DNA of Patapon while introducing roguelite mechanics and multiplayer elements. Players assemble and customise a Cobun army, marching through the evolving world of Redo in beat-based combat encounters that demand rhythm and tactical awareness.
Since its Early Access debut in September 2025, Ratatan has surpassed 100,000 sales within its first month and has received multiple free content updates. The console launch represents the next major milestone for the project.
A Spiritual Successor With Veteran Roots
Ratatan is led by developers formerly of Sony Japan Studio, including Hiroyuki Kotani, creator of the cult PSP hit Patapon. That lineage was immediately clear when the project debuted in 2023 with a record-breaking Kickstarter campaign that drew more than 14,000 backers and raised over 1.4 million USD.
The result is a colourful, rhythm-focused action experience that blends timing-based commands with roguelite progression and both solo and multiplayer play.
Switch 2 Joins the Lineup
Notably, Ratatan will be available on Nintendo Switch 2 at launch, positioning it among the growing list of rhythm and indie titles supporting Nintendo’s next-generation hardware.

Further details regarding console-specific features are expected in the coming weeks, but with a firm July 16 release date now set, Ratatan’s next phase is officially underway. For players who have followed its Early Access evolution, the full console launch signals that this spiritual successor to Patapon is ready to march onto a much bigger stage.
