Arizona Sunshine PC and Console Release Brings the VR Series to New Players

Vertigo Games has announced that Arizona Sunshine is coming to PC and consoles later this year, bringing the long-running VR zombie shooter series to traditional screens for the first time.

The new version is heading to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Rather than requiring a headset, Arizona Sunshine will now be playable from a third-person perspective, making the series more accessible for players who have not experienced its desert apocalypse in VR.

Sunny and Buddy Return for a Desert Road Trip

The game builds on the story and tone of Arizona Sunshine 2, following Sunny, a lonely survivor with a dark sense of humour and a habit of talking to the undead he calls Fred. His journey across Arizona is once again shaped by Buddy, his loyal dog and one of the series’ most memorable additions.

Beneath the chaos, the story centres on isolation, companionship, and the strange comfort of having a four-legged partner as the world falls apart.

Couch Co-Op Gives Arizona Sunshine a Bigger Social Hook

For the first time, Arizona Sunshine will support split-screen couch co-op, letting two players share the same screen as they try to survive the desert together. Online two-player co-op will also be available for those who prefer to team up remotely.

The shift to PC and consoles should make the series’ co op action easier to jump into. Players can expect familiar weapons, tense encounters, and fights that quickly spiral out of control, now built around controller play and a wider third-person view.

Buddy Is Now Fully Playable in Co Op

One of the more unusual additions is Buddy becoming fully playable in co op. That means one player can take on the role of Sunny, while another controls the dog as a direct part of the action.

Arizona Sunshine Co-op Play

Buddy is not just there for personality, either. He can track secrets, assist in combat, and give the co op setup a different rhythm from standard two-player shooters. It is a smart way to keep the game’s identity intact while reshaping it for a new format.

Arizona Sunshine is available to wishlist now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Epic Games Store. Nintendo Switch 2 wishlists will open at a later date.
