The moment that many owners of the PlayStation VR2 have been waiting for is finally here. Sony has officially announced PC VR support for the PS VR2, so you can now enjoy all sorts of experiences on your PlayStation 5 as well as your PC. Half-Life Alyx, we are looking at you. This August 7, all of that will be made possible thanks to the new PlayStation VR2 PC adapter.

Once you have that device, make sure to get yourself a DisplayPort cable as well that is compatible with DisplayPort 1.4, then you will be ready to dive into the Steam library.

Setup is easy: simply connect PlayStation VR2 to your PC using the PS VR2 PC adapter and the DisplayPort 1.4 cable. Then, download the PlayStation VR2 App and the SteamVR App from Steam. This will allow you to set up PS VR2 on your PC, customise your settings and play area, and start purchasing and playing games in SteamVR.

Of course, be sure that your PC rig is powerful enough to handle all of the processing that will be going on in the background. Otherwise, it will still be a subpar experience.

Playing on the PC will have some drawbacks, as certain features such as HDR, headset feedback, eye tracking, adaptive triggers and haptic feedback (save rumble) will not be available on PlayStation VR2 PC. However, other high-fidelity and sensory immersion features of PS VR2 are supported, including 4K visuals (2000 x 2040 per eye), 110-degree field of view, finger touch detection, and see-through view, as well as foveated rendering (without eye tracking) and 3D Audio in supported games.

The PlayStation VR2 adapter retails for US$59.99 and will be available at select retailers or via the PlayStation website starting August 7.
