While Summer Game Fest 2024 promised plenty of new and exciting things, sometimes, it can be equally heartwarming to see the return of a beloved genre that has not exactly been in the mainstream’s eyes for a while. The folks over at Frost Giant Studios have been hard at work developing their real-time strategy epic, Stormgate, and now, the opening cinematic has made its debut.
Directed by Frost Giant Studios in partnership with acclaimed post-production studio Platige Image, the opening cinematic was previously teased during Frost Giant Studios’ segment at The Game Awards in 2023, as part of the Stormgate trailer introduced by actor Simu Liu. A die-hard fan and skilled player of StarCraft II, which many members of the Frost Giant team worked on, Liu will be playing the role of Warz, one of Stormgate’s central characters.
Besides the star power, fans would probably want to know more about how the game plays, and how all of the factions will take to the battlefields and duke it out. More details about the game will soon be unveiled, as Stormgate will be featured on the upcoming PC Gaming Show on June 9. During the show, the game’s most tightly guarded secret, its unannounced third faction, will be revealed, which should make for some exciting times.
Stormgate is expected to enter early access later in 2024, followed by a full release of the game one year later in 2025.
