CONTROL Resonant Physical Release Delayed as the Game Goes Gold

Remedy Entertainment has reached a major milestone with Control Resonant, confirming that its upcoming action RPG has officially gone gold ahead of its September 24 launch.

Remedy confirmed the news through its official social channels, although work on updates and additional polish can naturally continue between now and release. Unfortunately, the announcement also comes with less welcome news for anyone planning to pick up a physical copy.

Physical Copies of Control Resonant Arrive October 15

While digital players can begin Dylan Faden’s latest supernatural adventure on September 24, physical editions have been pushed back by three weeks to October 15.

Remedy says it simply needs a little more time to get the physical release ready, without identifying a specific production issue behind the delay. That creates an unusual split launch for a major single-player game. Players who have already ordered a physical edition will either need to wait until October or switch to digital to experience the story immediately.

The delay could be particularly frustrating for anyone hoping to avoid spoilers, especially considering how heavily Remedy’s games lean into mystery, unexpected revelations and their wider interconnected universe.

Dylan Faden Takes Centre Stage in the Control Sequel

Control Resonant shifts the spotlight away from Jesse Faden and towards her brother Dylan, who was a major part of the original game’s story.

This time, the supernatural crisis has escaped the confines of the Oldest House and spread across Manhattan. Dylan must search for his missing sister while dealing with a mysterious new form of resonance that is warping reality across the city.

The sequel is also making a substantial shift in gameplay. Rather than simply expanding the third-person shooting of Control, Remedy is describing Control Resonant as an action RPG, with a greater focus on melee combat and character progression.

Control Resonant Launches Digitally in September

The good news is that Remedy has now cleared one of the final major milestones before release. The unfortunate catch is that players committed to owning Dylan’s adventure on disc will have to dodge the resonance, and potentially a few spoilers, for another three weeks.

Control Resonant launches digitally on September 24 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Physical PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S copies will follow on October 15. A Mac version is also planned for later this year.
