No Rest for the Wicked 1.0 Moves to March 2027

Moon Studios has delayed the full release of No Rest for the Wicked from October to March 2027, giving the team additional time to polish its ambitious action RPG before leaving Early Access. The new window applies to both PC and PlayStation 5. Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 versions remain planned, although Moon Studios has yet to determine when either will arrive.

We previously covered the original October 1.0 plans, which would have brought more than 60 hours of additional content, new regions, bosses, weapons, endgame activities and a completely reworked class system. According to Moon Studios, several of those systems simply need longer in the oven.

Moon Studios Wants More Time for Performance and Classes

The additional development period will primarily be spent improving performance, tightening the new class system and bringing the overall 1.0 experience up to the studio’s desired standard.

That class overhaul is particularly significant. Moon previously described it as a major part of the finished game, allowing two players using the same weapon to build dramatically different Cerim warriors through more specialised progression.

Performance has remained another ongoing priority throughout Early Access, especially as No Rest for the Wicked has expanded with new areas, persistent multiplayer and increasingly complex systems. Console optimisation has presented its own challenges too. We previously reported that the Xbox versions were pushed back in part due to additional Xbox Series S optimisation work.

An Open Beta Arrives Before No Rest for the Wicked 1.0

Players will get opportunities to test those improvements before March. Moon Studios plans to hold further closed beta tests over the coming months, followed by an open beta in December. Feedback from those sessions will feed into the final stretch of development ahead of 1.0.

Creative Director Thomas Mahler will also continue to provide development updates through the studio’s Wicked Inside video diaries, covering design decisions, changes, and issues the team is still working through.

The finished version remains a substantial expansion over what is currently available in Early Access, with Moon Studios previously promising around 100 hours of total content across solo and multiplayer play.

Founder’s Pack Deadline Has Also Been Extended

The delay also gives PC players another opportunity to qualify for the Founder’s Pack. Moon Studios originally set July 10 as the cutoff, but that deadline has now moved to January 1, 2027. Anyone who purchased No Rest for the Wicked after the original July date will be included retroactively.

The pack contains the Spirit Cavern hideout, Sayer’s Vow sword, a Founder’s Tag and ongoing access to an exclusive Public Beta Test Realm after launch. PlayStation 5 pre-orders are expected to begin in January, with those players also eligible for the pack.

No Rest for the Wicked remains available through Steam Early Access. Its full 1.0 release is now scheduled for March 2027 on PC and PlayStation 5, with Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 dates still to come.

After more than two years in Early Access, another few months will undoubtedly frustrate players ready for the finished adventure. With a major class overhaul, performance work and an open beta still ahead, however, Moon Studios clearly does not want 1.0 to simply mean removing the Early Access label.
