007 First Light Switch 2 Delay Pushes Bond to March 2027
Nintendo Switch 2 owners will have to wait a little longer to step into James Bond’s shoes, with IO Interactive delaying 007 First Light on the platform until March 2027. The Switch 2 version has been left without a firm new date after an earlier delay, although hopes remain that it could still arrive sometime this year.
That possibility seemed increasingly plausible after IO Interactive brought a playable Switch 2 build to Gamescom 2026, letting attendees get their hands on the portable version ahead of release. Instead, the developer has opted to give the port several more months in development.
IO Interactive Wants More Time for Performance and Polish
In an official statement, IO Interactive said the extra time will ensure the Nintendo Switch 2 edition delivers the intended experience, with performance optimisation and overall polish among the main areas of focus. The studio also pointed to the Gamescom 2026 demo as an encouraging sign, noting that feedback from those who played the build was largely positive.
That version will not disappear just yet either. IO Interactive plans to bring the same Switch 2 demo to Tokyo Game Show 2026, giving another group of players a chance to try it while giving the development team more feedback.
007 First Light Switch 2 Version Will Now Arrive Next Year
The delay means Switch 2 players will now have to wait until March 2027 to experience IO Interactive’s take on Bond’s origin story. Given that the developer has already put a playable version in front of the public, the extra time appears to be focused less on fundamental development issues and more on getting the port into stronger shape before launch.
For a visually ambitious game running on Nintendo’s hardware, that additional optimisation could prove worthwhile, even if another delay is unlikely to be welcome news for players who had hoped to pick it up this year. IO Interactive closed its statement by thanking fans for their patience, understanding and continued support.
007 First Light is now scheduled to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 in March 2027.
