Arizona Sunshine Release Date Set for January 21, 2027
Vertigo Games has confirmed that Arizona Sunshine will launch on January 21, 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Unlike the VR games that established the series, this new Arizona Sunshine is rebuilt around a third-person perspective, keeping the zombie-slaying road trip starring Sunny and his canine companion Buddy while opening the experience to traditional PC and console players.
We previously covered how Arizona Sunshine is leaving VR behind for PC and consoles, including local split-screen co-op and the ability for another player to directly control Buddy. The newly released trailer puts that relationship front and centre, following the pair as they try to survive another journey through zombie-infested Arizona.
Buddy Is Playable in Arizona Sunshine Co-Op

Players can tackle the story alone or team up in two-player online co-op or local split-screen, with Buddy becoming a playable multiplayer character for the first time. That gives the co-op setup a slightly different dynamic from simply putting two human survivors together.
While one player controls Sunny, the other can directly control Buddy and tear into the undead from a lower perspective. Combat includes familiar firearms alongside machetes, flamethrowers, and other weapons, while character customisation lets Sunny wear increasingly questionable apocalypse attire.
Deluxe Edition Includes the Original VR-Era Campaign
Pre-orders are open on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and the Epic Games Store, while Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders will follow later. Steam, Epic Games Store and PlayStation 5 pre-orders receive a 20% discount, while all pre-orders include the Desert Raiders Pack with Sunny and Buddy skins.
Deluxe Edition pre-orders also provide 48-hour early access, effectively letting those players start before the January 21, 2027 general release.
For a series long synonymous with VR, Arizona Sunshine is making a major change to how players experience its apocalypse. The zombies are still plentiful, and Sunny still talks to them, but this time a headset isn’t part of the survival kit.
