Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown Expands Life Across Pywel

Pearl Abyss has given players a much closer look at Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown, with its latest Features Overview detailing everything from sailing and underwater exploration to romance, property ownership and running businesses across Pywel.

The DLC continues the stories of Kliff, Damiane and Oongka, with each character setting out on their own path after the main adventure. It represents the first major expansion since the Crimson Desert Enhanced update expanded the base game with new story content and improvements earlier this year.

Pearl Abyss’ new Charting the Unknown Features Overview also shows how much of the DLC focuses on giving players more ways to live in Pywel rather than simply finding another fight.

The Great Ocean Opens Up With Ships and Underwater Exploration

One of the biggest additions is the Great Ocean of Pywel, a new explorable region with its own storyline. Players can gather the resources needed to build a ship, customise their vessel, and head out across the ocean to find new islands. These expeditions can lead to enemy-controlled territory, new strongholds to establish alongside the Greymanes and additional rewards away from the mainland.

Exploration also extends beneath the surface. Kliff, Damiane, and Oongka can dive underwater to search sunken ruins, recover treasure, and collect resources, with specialised equipment helping them stay submerged longer.

It builds naturally on the broader exploration and lifestyle systems Pearl Abyss had already begun establishing through Crimson Desert‘s camps, farming and other life activities across Pywel.

Romance, Marriage and Bigger Homes Come to Crimson Desert

Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown also gives relationships considerably more attention. Building enough trust with certain characters can eventually lead to romance and marriage, while close companions may visit the Greymane Camp as those relationships develop.

Housing is also getting a sizeable upgrade. Instead of only decorating interiors, players can design parts of their homes from scratch, including walls and windows. Players can also claim certain liberated castles and transform them into personal strongholds.

Players Can Run Businesses Across Pywel

The expansion goes further into management by allowing players to lease facilities throughout Pywel. Players can assign comrades to businesses alongside equipment, choose which goods to sell, and make decisions aimed at improving recognition and profits. Examples include running a restaurant in Vellua or managing a smithy at Zargan Tankworks.

Anyone more interested in combat will find something to do, too. The new Garden of Trials pits players against a succession of powerful bosses they’ve already faced throughout Pywel, offering a tougher endgame challenge for experienced players.

Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown launches October 29 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and Epic Games Store. Pre-orders include the Charter’s Diving Set for Kliff and Oongka, alongside the Charter’s Light Diving Set for Damiane.
