Knights of the Fall Demo Is Available Now on Steam
Airo Games has released the first public demo for Knights of the Fall, letting players bend time and gravity through its post-apocalyptic sci-fi world as part of Steam Next Fest.
Developed in cooperation with Bohemia Interactive through the Bohemia Incubator programme, Knights of the Fall is a story-driven action platformer combining katana combat with ranged weapons and reality-bending abilities. The Knights of the Fall Steam page now hosts a free demo, while the full game still has no confirmed release date.
It joins a busy October Steam Next Fest for action games, which has already seen titles such as Knuckle Paradise open up its first playable chapter ahead of release.
Haru Can Turn Enemy Attacks Against Them
Players step into the role of Haru, a combat veteran armed with a katana and experimental technology that can manipulate gravity and time. Combat goes beyond simply cutting through enemies. Haru can dodge and parry incoming attacks, combine sword strikes with ranged weapons and use Gravity Pull to drag enemies into striking distance. The wider game also promises opportunities to redirect attacks and turn an opponent’s strengths against them.
Those abilities stem from technology developed by the mysterious NASS organisation. After signals from space led scientists to breakthroughs in gravity and time manipulation, a portal opened, dragging Earth into another dimension and leaving the planet fighting for survival.
Haru eventually teams up with former NASS scientist Yoshida as they search for the coordinates needed to return Earth to its original dimension, while uncovering a connection between interdimensional travel and the afterlife.
The Demo Visits Three Knights of the Fall Locations
The playable build covers three locations designed to establish both the combat and Haru’s partnership with Yoshida. It begins with a Dream Sequence that introduces the basics before moving to Yoshida’s Base. From there, players enter an abandoned NASS hospital to find records linking missing scientists to mysterious anomalies.

Those anomalies could provide the coordinates needed to bring Earth home, making the hospital investigation the start of the game’s wider mystery. Airo Games presents the world through a cinematic hybrid of 2D and 3D visuals, with ruined environments and dimensional anomalies as the backdrop for its platforming and combat.
Knights of the Fall is one of the projects supported through the Bohemia Incubator programme, which provides development and publishing support to independent studios. The Knights of the Fall demo is available now on PC via Steam. A release date for the full game has yet to be announced.
