Bandai Namco and Reflector Entertainment are making sure that gamers have more single-player action adventures to look forward to in 2024, as a new gameplay trailer for the upcoming Unknown 9: Awakening gives us a taste of what protagonist Haroona can do to those who stand in her way.
With creative director Christophe Rossignol on hand to share his insights, the trailer sees Haroona utilise all sorts of abilities for a variety of situations, resolving combat and stealth encounters. For example, players can use Stepping to possess enemies, moving them into tactical positions that can be further exploited. Ripple attracts enemies to another position, preferably near an environmental hazard, while Shroud enables Haroona to turn temporarily invisible and play with her enemies using her telekinetic powers.
Aside from her powers, the showcase also highlighted the various locations that players will visit in the game, including the Mauritanian desert or the deep jungle of India, perfect playgrounds that will test your skills in exploration and the use of supernatural abilities. Expect to discover secrets off the beaten path, and plenty of enemy types to defeat as well.
If you were not aware, in Unknown 9: Awakening, the player assumes the role of Haroona, a young woman gifted with a unique connection to the Fold, a mysterious dimension overlapping our own. On her quest for powerful hidden knowledge, she will learn to master her unique connection to the Fold, which allows her to channel its powers into our world. But such powers do not go unnoticed. Haroona quickly becomes the target of the Ascendants, a splinter faction of a secret organisation known as the Leap Year Society, which wants to use the Fold to alter the course of human history.
Unknown 9: Awakening will launch this Fall 2024 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.
