The Duskbloods Delayed to 2027 Following Network Test Feedback

When The Duskbloods first emerged in April 2025, its gothic imagery, supernatural warriors and unmistakable FromSoftware aesthetic immediately drew comparisons to Bloodborne.

Those similarities only told part of the story. Rather than another traditional single-player action RPG, The Duskbloods was revealed as a new IP designed around online PvPvE battles for up to eight players, with temporary alliances and bitter rivalries forming as the Bloodsworn compete for First Blood. It also remains exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2.

Players waiting for The Duskbloods to arrive in 2026 will need to wait a little longer, as FromSoftware has officially moved the game to 2027.

FromSoftware Is Taking More Time for Final Adjustments

Announced on October 29, the delay moves The Duskbloods from its previously planned 2026 release window to an unspecified point in 2027.

FromSoftware says it will use the additional development time for final adjustments to the game’s rules and balancing, following its network test in August. No specific release date or narrower 2027 window has been announced.

The studio’s statement suggests that the fundamental concept remains intact. Instead, FromSoftware wants to raise the experience seen during the network test to a higher standard before release, particularly by letting players succeed through different strategies rather than relying solely on direct combat.

August’s Network Test Put PvPvE Rules to Work

That flexibility is a major part of what separates The Duskbloods from FromSoftware’s more familiar adventures. Its network test let players try different rulesets alongside the standard game, including matches where alliances were disabled, and Bloodbound Alliances paired Bloodsworn throughout the battle.

Players could otherwise petition rivals for temporary alliances, summon Kin and pursue different objectives while competing against both other Bloodsworn and enemies. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki previously described PvPvE as something he had long found interesting, with the format allowing FromSoftware to explore relationships between players that are more complicated than straightforward cooperation or competition.

Nintendo Switch 2’s greater focus on online functionality also helped the studio remain closer to that original multiplayer vision.

The Duskbloods Will Now Launch Sometime in 2027

FromSoftware has apologised to players waiting for the release and thanked those who participated in the network test for their support.

There is currently no indication of exactly when The Duskbloods will arrive during 2027, leaving the studio with considerably more room to tune an experience where combat balance, alliances and competing strategies all need to coexist.

For a FromSoftware project stepping this far outside the structure most players associate with the studio, a few extra months spent making those systems work together could prove particularly valuable.
