Turn-based tactical affairs have grown in scope and scale nowadays, in part thanks to the modern XCOM and other games in that genre. Any player interested in said genre will sure to be on the lookout for similar challenging titles, and one of the more highly anticipated ones has to be MENACE, which is slated for Steam and Epic Games Store Early Access in Q3 2025.
For the second year in a row, MENACE had arrived at the PC Gaming Show as one of the titles on its Most Wanted list, with a new action-packed trailer thrown in to tease players even more. Here, we get to witness the struggle of a group of marines trying to defend a settlement against seemingly unbeatable odds.
Developed by Overhyped Studios, the studio behind Battle Brothers, and published by Hooded Horse, the game sees players lead a strike force against an alien threat in a turn-based tactical RPG experience. Answer distress calls across different worlds, train and equip infantry, deploy tanks and mechs, and plan and execute missions in detailed turn-based battles.
The freedom of how you want to approach things is a clear attraction for many, with factions to please or offend, and how it will ultimately affect your forces. Branching paths in multiple missions will also reveal consequences that may not be obvious at first, but it is your call to make as the commander, win or lose.
First revealed at Gamescom 2023, MENACE has already captured the imagination of tactics fans with its grounded sci-fi setting and commitment to Battle Brothers’ unique blend of challenge and player freedom. It generated 250,000 wishlists in just over a year and now stands as one of Steam’s top 100 most-wishlisted games with nearly 300,000 wishlists.
MENACE will be coming to early access on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store in Q3 2025.
