Tga 2024 - Naughty Dog Unveils New Ip Intergalactic the Heretic Prophet

When it comes to big announcements, there is no bigger stage than the annual show that caps off a year of gaming. At The Game Awards 2024, we got yet another big reveal that punctuated the night, and this time, it comes via the folks at Naughty Dog. The studio pulled back the curtains on their next title, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, a brand new IP that has been in development since 2020.

Intergalactic stars protagonist Jordan A. Mun, a dangerous bounty hunter who ends up stranded on Sempiria – a distant planet whose communication with the outside universe went dark hundreds of years ago. In fact, anyone who’s flown to it hoping to unravel its mysterious past was never heard from again. Jordan will have to use all her skills and wits if she hopes to be the first person in over 600 years to leave its orbit.

Aside from the story details, the trailer also teased the combat that will likely be front and centre of the game as well, as Mun goes up against a menacing mech with her weapon of choice, a sword bursting with energy. With the track record of Naughty Dog, the reasonable expectation is that we will get an intriguing narrative paired with robust combat in Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and that’s always a good thing.

“What we can tell you is that this game lives up to the Naughty Dog tradition of creating an emotional, character-driven epic journey. Our narrative goals are rivaled only by our gameplay ambitions,” said head of studio Neil Druckmann in a blog post. “This will be the deepest gameplay in Naughty Dog’s history, taking our learnings from our previous franchises and pushing them beyond anything we’ve ever done before.”

Mun is played by the talented Tati Gabrielle, and eagle-eyed players might spot some of the other cast members in the trailer. We did spot Kumail Nanjiani appearing on screen at one point, and it will be exciting to see just who else joins the cast. The music is also set to be stellar, with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross scoring.

For now, there is no release date or window set for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, but we reckon there will be more details shared in the coming months.
