Hideo Kojima Points to Sag-aftra Strikes for Od and Physint Delays

Hideo Kojima is often regarded as one of the most celebrated and busiest creators in the gaming industry today, with works in the past and the future getting plenty of attention. That means anything he says or does can cause waves across the industry, and now, we have new updates on two of the projects Kojima Productions is working on.

In addition to Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, which is planned for release in 2025, Kojima is also working on a horror game called OD with Microsoft, and a stealth action game titled Physint with Sony. It is the latter two that we know so little about, and that will only continue in the near future.

In a recent post on Twitter/X, Kojima confirmed that the development of both games has been delayed. The delays are due to strikes by the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), which was a momentous movement in 2024. As a result, OD had to halt scanning and filming processes midway through 2024. Meanwhile, Physint also faced delays in its casting process. Kojima hopes that both games will be able to resume development in 2025.

Although that is positive news in some aspect, the fact that we still have no clear idea of what either OD or Physint will bring to us in gameplay terms is peak Kojima. We do know that the auteur makes games that he wants, and more often than not, the audience responds with fervent support, so it obviously works.

At least at this stage, we know that both games are returning to active development in some form or another. When the time is right, we are sure Kojima will attempt to explain to us just what he has been cooking up with Kojima Productions and their partners.
