Final Fantasy VII Producer Yoshinori Kitase Wants More Film Adaptations

Final Fantasy Vii Remake

Square Enix has achieved something almost impossible with the Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth projects, allowing old fans to relive nostalgia and bringing in new fans along for the ride. Successfully translating the classic RPG into a modern format with new story twists, the IP’s potential remains strong, making producer Yoshinori Kitase dream big.

Although Square Enix has no concrete plans to go beyond the games at the moment, the producer of Final Fantasy VII Remake—Kitase—dreams of seeing more Final Fantasy VII films in the future.

He revealed this in an interview session with YouTuber Danny Pena. Kitase admitted that he is connected to many Hollywood directors, actors, and other creators who have experienced Final Fantasy VII.

He also mentioned hearing interest from various parties regarding this IP and the universe it carries. That, in theory, should make a film project much more viable. This combination of circumstances makes him desire more cinematic or visual experiences (films) for Final Fantasy VII for the future.

Final Fantasy Vii Rebirth

Kitase himself is no stranger to translating video games into film. He was involved in the legendary CGI film Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children in the past. Whether there will be more such forays remains to be seen. Currently, Square Enix has yet to announce any titles or release windows for the third part of the Final Fantasy VII Remake project, and perhaps after the trilogy is complete, we can hope for more films to flesh out the universe further.
