Ex-witcher 3 Developers Reveals Dark Fantasy Rpg the Blood of Dawnwalker

If you have been hankering for something similar to The Witcher, there is always the option of the next entry. However, some of the vital personnel are no longer at CD Projekt Red, and they have a project of their own. Rebel Wolves, a studio made up of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz and other seasoned developers, has just revealed a debut cinematic trailer for The Blood of Dawnwalker, a fantasy action-RPG that already looks delicious.

The project will be published by Bandai Namco, and will involve plenty of action with vampires and magic. As a single-player experience, expect to explore an open world full of danger and mystery, much like a typical adventure in The Witcher 3.

With conflict sweeping the lands of 14th-century Europe and the Black Death making its mark, this presents the opportunity for the vampires to seize the initiative and claim dominance. At the heart of it all is Coen, the protagonist who has been turned into a Dawnwalker, essentially a vampire that is able to walk about in the day ala Blade.

Not fully human, not entirely a vampire, players will have 30 days and nights to save your family or swear revenge on your sire and destroy everyone standing in your way. The freedom in gameplay is reflected in Coen’s very nature as a Dawnwalker. Depending on the time of day, players will have different skills, abilities and storyline outcomes. Players must choose: do they fight for humanity or embrace the cursed powers?

“Inspired by classic RPGs, we want players to feel the sense of urgency in an open world game,” said Rebel Wolves game director and co-founder Tomaszkiewicz in a press release. “There are multiple approaches to saving Coen’s family with no clear division between main and side quests, you decide on how you spend the time. Time is a resource and with each quest progressing its passage, it is impossible to complete all stories and arcs before the dreadful deadline, making each playthrough unique. We call it a narrative sandbox.”

The more focused affair will certainly offer something different, even if the dark fantasy roots are somewhat familiar. And with the pedigree of the developers, The Blood of Dawnwalker will certainly be a title to look out for.

The Rebel Wolves team also consist of writer Jakub Szamałek, design director Daniel Sadowski, art director Bartłomiej Gaweł, CFO Michał Boryka, and studio head Robert Murzynowski among others, many who have experience working on games like The Witcher, Cyberpunk 2077 and Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales.

For now, The Blood of Dawnwalker has no release date set yet, and more information will be revealed later in 2025.
