Dino Crisis Spiritual Successor Code Violet Set for Ps5, No Pc Release to Avoid Vulgar Mods

For an industry that pushes creativity, sometimes, there are still some lines that shouldn’t be crossed. And that’s something that TeamKill Media is staying true to for its newly revealed title, Code Violet, which has been positioned as a spiritual successor to Capcom’s Dino Crisis. It is slated for release in July on the PlayStation 5, but it will be skipping PC to avoid controversy.

Not that it has happened yet, but for the studio and developers, the idea of modding by the PC community is not something they embrace. That is because of the fear of vulgar mods that might distort the game’s image in the wider community’s eyes.

“The reason we are not bringing it to PC is we do not want anyone modding vulgar versions of the main character as well as other characters in the game,” the team shared on X/Twitter. “We hold our voice actresses and actors with high regard, as well as our artistic vision for the game and story and reject any form of destroying that with sexual mods.”

Unsurprisingly, this statement immediately ignited the anger of PC gamers, who openly criticised the remarks from the Code Violet team, which, admittedly, feel somewhat accusatory. While that discussion rumbles on, it is important to note just what game Code Violet is.

This will be a third-person action horror experience, where you take on the role of Violet Sinclair, a girl plucked from the past who must unravel the mysteries of the Aion Bioengineering Complex as she avoids, hides or fights against the creatures who have overrun it. These creatures just so happen to be genetically engineered dinosaurs, which will fill the Dino Crisis gap that many have been hoping for.

Its debut trailer isn’t exactly impressive, and judging from the studio’s track record, fans will be better off suppressing their hopes for a revival of this particular sub-genre for now. Then again, it could very well surprise us, so let’s keep our dino claws crossed.

Code Violet is planned to be released exclusively for PlayStation 5 in July 2025.
