Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Remake Launches This August

One of the most anticipated titles this year is the upcoming remake of Konami‘s Metal Gear Solid 3. After showing off the game at the Xbox Games Showcase in June last year, things have been relatively quiet, especially when it comes to a potential release date. Now, following a PSN leak that revealed a release date, the release date trailer has now been uploaded as well, confirming that Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will arrive on August 28.

A listing on the PlayStation Store first revealed the potential release date, and together with the release date trailer, it has all but confirmed that the information gleaned by those who spotted it is accurate.

The trailer touched upon the narrative of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, with the main characters given plenty of time to shine. We see Big Boss, EVA, The Boss, and Volgin throughout, as well as the full retinue of the Cobra Unit. How the fights with The Sorrow, The Fury, The End, The Fear, and The Pain will play out will be interesting, as will the confrontation with the titular Metal Gear, Shagohod.

There is even a tease at the end of the trailer, with an escaped ape from the PlayStation classic series Ape Escape appearing. Does this mean the mini-game from the original PlayStation 2 release will make its way into this remake? There is certainly a high chance.

This remake project is built using Unreal Engine, promising a significant visual upgrade in the name of modernisation. Returning fans need not fear too much though, as although Big Boss and everything else might look new, certain elements of the game remain intact. This includes segmented areas for exploration and combat, broken up by loading screens instead of having a large inter-connected world.

We are definitely looking forward to the release of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater on August 28. The game will arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
