Krafton's Pubg Blindspot Brings Top-down Tactical Action with Steam Demo

When a genre has been entrenched in players’ minds for decades, it can be hard to innovate and come out with something new. For the competitive shooter scene, it is the realm of first-person shooters like Call of Duty that hold the reins. However, Krafton and ARC Team at PUBG Studios hoping to blur the lines with its blended experience, a top-down shooter that transforms the PUBG formula. And now, we have a name, with the game set to be called PUBG: Blindspot.

Originally codenamed Project Arc, PUBG: Blindspot can be described as a fusion between Hotline Miami and Rainbow Six Siege. It brings the action to a top-down perspective and has players visually restricted to what they can see through their characters. It is clear communications will be key to being successful, and ensures the game is more cooperative and intense than the usual PUBG gameplay.

Tactical strategies will also be important, with various gadgets and destructible environments coming into play as you approach objectives. With matches set to pit five against five, there is plenty of opportunity to turn things around as you battle it out with the other team.

The way maps will be laid out will play into this, with a new trailer announcing the PUBG: Blindspot demo showing rooms of different orientations and sizes, full of objects that can act as cover and objectives to be completed.

For those curious about just how PUBG: Blindspot will play as compared to the main PUBG game, you won’t have too long at all. The demo will arrive at Steam Next Fest this coming February 21, with plenty of content. Players will be able to choose from 10 different operators, each with their own signature weapons and tools.

The action will unfold over seven different maps, and there will be two modes. Team Deathmatch will have three maps in rotation, while Demolition mode will feature four maps. A release date for the game has yet to be set by Krafton, and it is likely the player reception will play a huge part in helping to make that decision.
