The recent successes of Shift Up have propelled the studio to become one of South Korea’s leading developers. Powered by Stellar Blade and Goddess of Victory: Nikke, the studio is now seen as both a popular and financially stable business, establishing itself across two different genres in 2024. In their latest financial report, Shift Up revealed that 2024 was a record-breaking year in terms of total revenue.
Their flagship mobile game — Goddess of Victory: Nikke — remains their most significant revenue driver. Despite the increasingly fierce competition in the gacha market, Nikke has mainly remained stable and consistent with the audience. The mobile game managed to generate approximately $105 million, contributing to nearly 70% of Shift Up’s total revenue in 2024. With plans to enter the Chinese market next, this number is only set to grow in the near future.
Meanwhile, their first console game, Stellar Blade, has also seen massive success. Shift Up reported that they have already earned around $43 million in royalties from the game. The action RPG continues to sell consistently, thanks to ongoing collaborations and updates, including a popular NieR: Automata crossover.
In the same report, Shift Up also reiterated its commitment to the upcoming release of Stellar Blade for PC, which is planned for 2025. Expected to sell even more than its PlayStation 5 counterpart, particularly in the Asian market, the PC version of Stellar Blade has now entered the optimisation phase.
Shift Up will look to ensure the game runs smoothly on most rigs and on the Steam Deck as well. Unfortunately, the team has yet to provide a more specific release window for Stellar Blade on PC.
The year 2025 will also be one full of milestones for the developers, as more details will be shared about their next major project, Project Witches, which is currently slated for a release in 2027.
