Ubisoft Confirms Solid Pre-Order Numbers for Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Ubisoft Confirms That Assassin’s Creed Shadows Has Strong Pre-order Numbers, Nearly Matching Ac Odyssey.

Whether it’s a highly anticipated adventure or a return to the series roots, any Assassin’s Creed release is bound to drive fervent discussions. With Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which features a dual protagonist system, set to launch on March 20, it would be interesting to see just how the audience react to a trip back to feudal Japan.

From the perspective of Ubisoft, this setting makes perfect sense. It has been highly requested by fans, and the many different elements make it perfect for the kind of gameplay the series has become known for. And indeed, the market has reacted in kind.

As reported by Eurogamer, Ubisoft’s latest financial reports are showing positive pre-order numbers “in line with those of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, the second most successful entry of the franchise”. The series top-seller is Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. This would be great news for Ubisoft, even if Assassin’s Creed Shadows has not had the best of times leading up to launch.

One of the key reasons for the strong pre-order numbers, at least according to Ubisoft head Yves Guillemot, is that “early previews have been positive”. Outlets, including ours, have praised the immersive world, stunning visuals, and diverse gameplay mechanics offered by Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The multiple delays seem to have worked in that regard.

“I want to commend the incredible talent and dedication of the entire Assassin’s Creed team, who is working tirelessly to ensure that Shadows delivers on the promise of what is the franchise’s most ambitious entry yet,” added Guillemot.

At the same time, this positive news comes alongside the confirmation that the company is continuing its cost-cutting measures. Layoffs have already been initiated for the many studios under its umbrella, which will likely continue into the new financial year.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is scheduled for release on March 20, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
