Horror Extraction FPS The Abyss Break Arrives on PC in 2026

Extraction shooters have been popping up quite regularly recently, and the genre is getting bigger, with LNJ Studio announcing a new horror co-op experience called The Abyss Break that is coming to PC sometime in 2026.

In Abyss Break, players will join a team of up to three to explore parallel worlds created by a strange entity known as the Abyss. Players will be forced to rely on each other and a struggling underground civilisation, akin to that seen in the Metro series of games, taking on contracts for money and supplies.

Players are civilisation’s last hope, as they hold the power to enter and return to alternate worlds. Using this power, you must travel to a series of desolate, post-apocalyptic ghost towns to stop a danger known as the Great Expansion.

In between missions, you’ll have the chance to customise your gear, including the arrangement of armour plates, chest pouches, support equipment, and weapon mods like suppressors, magazines, and sights, to better suit the environment and play style they prefer.

While on missions, players must also think tactically, as there are many ways to approach combat scenarios. Enemies can pick up on sound cues like footsteps, doors opening, and gunshots, so every action has weight, and even the slightest mistake could spell an end for the run.

Resource gathering is also dangerous since enemies will notice when their belongings are missing, meaning you can’t simply loot everything in their sight. To maximise immersion, The Abyss Break will also include a day and night cycle as well as a dynamic weather system, which adds an extra bit of depth to the preparation phase since environmental hazards must be accounted for before heading out, lest you end up suffering the consequences of trying to adapt mid-mission.

The Abyss Break is slated for a PC release in 2026. There is no word on whether the title will be coming to consoles.
