Killing Floor 3 Delayed Following Negative Closed Beta Feedback

Killing Floor 3

The growing anticipation as a game nears release is a unique feeling, and for those already set on enjoying themselves no matter what, any change to those plans can be debilitating. That’s what fans of the Killing Floor series would have felt, as Tripwire Interactive has just announced that they will be postponing the release date of Killing Floor 3

The shooter was initially intended to hit shelves this month, but after the closed beta, Tripwire Interactive claimed it had “missed the mark.” They had wanted to make this game simultaneously a monumental improvement on the games before while also keeping the core aspects of Killing Floor intact, but were faced with a harsh reality when the beta was met with a less-than-stellar reception.

As a result, Tripwire Interactive, with the support of their parent company, The Embracer Group, have since postponed the release date to focus on what they believe are the most glaring flaws in the design of Killing Floor 3

The pressing issues that need addressing centred around performance, UI, lighting, and combat. The studio also announced an update allowing players to select perk classes and their characters independently will come after the game’s full release.

“We look forward to another opportunity to show you a more polished version of Killing Floor 3, and when we’re ready to share more details, you will be the first to know. Until then, we thank you for your continued patience and overwhelming support,” said Tripwire.

The newest entry in this franchise, set 70 years after the events of Killing Floor 2, follows the story of Nightfall. This rebellious civilian militia force sets out to stop Horzine, a hostile megacorporation. Players will find themselves as Nightfall agents as they blast their way through hordes of Horzine’s very own bio-engineered abominations known as Zeds in this dystopian horror-inspired FPS survival experience.

The game is still set to be released this year for PC through Steam, the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, but the exact date remains undecided.
