Genshin Impact to Finally Introduce Android Controller Support

After Five Years of Waiting, Genshin Impact Players on Android Will Finally Be Able to Enjoy Controller Support Once Update 5.5 Launches.

As one of the most popular gacha games over the past five years, Genshin Impact boasts an active and dedicated community. With so many players enjoying the game, one might assume that HoYoVerse would have swiftly implemented all quality-of-life (QoL) improvements requested by fans — especially for Android users. However, despite its action RPG nature, Genshin Impact has long lacked a crucial feature for Android players: controller support.

Fortunately, the long wait is finally coming to an end. It remains unclear why it took HoYoVerse nearly five years to integrate controller functionality into the Android version of Genshin Impact, especially since the feature has already been available in the studio’s other gacha titles. However, fans can now rejoice as one of the most highly requested QoL features is set to arrive with the upcoming Version 5.5 update.

HoYoVerse officially confirmed this long-awaited addition through their latest blog post on HoYoLab. The update will introduce support for four types of Bluetooth controllers, allowing players to enhance their gameplay experience. The supported controllers are:

  • DualSense Wireless Controller – Requires Android 12.0 or later
  • DualShock 4 Wireless Controller – Requires Android 10.0 or later
  • Xbox Wireless Controller – Requires Android 9.0 or later
  • Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 – Requires Android 9.0 or later

Other than controller support, Genshin Impact Version 5.5 will introduce additional QoL improvements, including an enhanced tracking system to improve the player experience. The update is scheduled for release on March 26 across all platforms, including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, PC, and iOS. Additionally, a special program unveiling the update’s features will take place on March 14, giving players a closer look at what is coming along and getting them excited.

With these long-awaited enhancements on the horizon, Android players can finally experience Genshin Impact with improved control options, bringing them on par with their iOS and console counterparts.
