Digimon Story Time Stranger to Feature Biggest Roster of Over 450 Digimon

While its popularity may never quite catch up to Pokémon, the Digimon franchise has remained resilient, growing steadily while staying true to its unique identity. For longtime fans of the franchise, a new Digimon game from Bandai Namco is always welcome, regardless of its concept. And with the upcoming Digimon Story Time Stranger, the developers are set to go all out for fans.

After initially revealing only a brief teaser, Bandai Namco and developer Media.Vision have finally shared more details about the game at Digimon Con 2025.

In Time Stranger, players will take on the role of an agent from ADAMAS, an organization dedicated to investigating various mysterious phenomena. As expected, one such phenomenon involves Digimon. However, an explosion during the investigation unexpectedly throws the protagonist eight years into the past.

Unlike previous titles, Digimon Story Time Stranger expands its exploration elements beyond just Shinjuku. Players will also have the opportunity to venture into the Digimon World: Illiad, a realm inhabited by Digimon. The game introduces Central Town, a key location not only for the story but also as a lively hub where numerous Digimon go about their daily activities.

For those invested in Digimon lore, Time Stranger brings an exciting revelation: the game will feature Olympos XII, the twelve Digimon protectors of the Digital World. While some members of this elite group have appeared in previous games and anime adaptations, Digimon Story: Time Stranger marks the first time all twelve will gather as part of the story.

For fans who love collecting and training Digimon, Time Stranger is set to deliver in a big way. The game boasts a roster of over 450 recruitable Digimon, making it the largest selection in the history of the Digimon Story franchise. This number surpasses the rosters of Cyber Sleuth and Hacker’s Memory, offering more variety and customisation than ever before.

Digimon Story Time Stranger is set for release in 2025, though no exact date has been announced yet. The game will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.
