Summer Game Fest – Code Vein II Features Time Travel For a Bloody Good Time

Set in a Future Timeline, Code Vein Ii Will Also Introduce the Concept of Time Travel.

When the first game launched back in 2019, Code Vein quickly built a strong following with its anime-inspired aesthetics and stylised character designs. Many who played it found it to be one of the more accessible Soulslikes, especially for players who often find the genre intimidating. Now, after years of silence, Bandai Namco has revealed the long-awaited sequel, Code Vein II.

Unveiled during Summer Game Fest, Code Vein II arrives with a refreshed visual direction that noticeably strays from the heavy anime stylings of the original. The sequel introduces a new aesthetic style and tone, while maintaining the core design tenets of the original.

Set in a new future timeline, Code Vein II introduces a new looming threat: Luna Rapacis. Her arrival has driven the Revenants mad, giving birth to horrifying new entities now referred to as Horrors. Amid this chaos, the protagonist crosses paths with a mysterious woman named Lou, an enigmatic figure with the ability to walk through time. As expected, players will once again step into the role of a Revenant Hunter, now tasked with stopping this new nightmare from unravelling.

Time travel will play a central role in Code Vein II, adding a new layer of complexity and intrigue to its story and gameplay. Despite the temporal shifts, the game remains faithful to its core theme: blood. As in the previous instalment, players will collect blood from enemies to unlock and enhance a wide array of powerful skills. Weapons and gear progression will also continue to be a significant aspect, offering deeper customisation and combat strategies.

One of the most exciting confirmations is the return of the Partner System. Bandai Namco has revealed that fighting alongside your partner will strengthen cooperative attack options, encouraging synergy and teamwork. Although only one partner character was shown in the debut trailer, the statement clearly hints at the possibility of more companions being revealed in the future.

Code Vein II is slated for release in 2026, with no exact launch date yet. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
