Alien: Earth Arrives Summer 2025 as Prequel to Original Film

Alien Earth Summer 2025

With Alien: Romulus delivering on the big screens this year and another likely screamfest coming in the form of Alien: Rogue Incursion in December, the Alien franchise is in a much better place than in recent times. And if that’s not enough, the television series Alien: Earth is also invading your living room soon. Following the first teaser being dropped, we now know just where on the overall timeline it is taking place.

As the trailer description reads, “When a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth, a young woman (Sydney Chandler) and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat in FX’s highly anticipated TV series Alien: Earth from creator Noah Hawley.”

More importantly, we see in the trailer that the pivotal year happens to be 2120, when “Mother Earth is expecting” just after we see the Xenomorph making its customary appearance. Instead of the previous speculation that the series would be taking place before Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, it is instead set just two years before the original Alien. The trailer also dates Alien: Earth for a Summer 2025 release on FX and Hulu, so you can adequately prepare for the June to August period.

The show is being led by Chandler (Pistol, Don’t Worry Darling), together with Alex Lawther (The End of the F***ing World), Timothy Olyphant (Deadwood), Essie Davis (The Babadook), Samuel Blenkin (The Witcher: Blood Origin), Babou Ceesay (Severance), David Rysdahl (No Exit), Adrian Edmondson (The Young Ones), Adarsh Gourav (The White Tiger), Jonathan Ajayi (The Drifters), Erana James (The Wilds), Lily Newmark (Cursed), Diem Camille (The Great Silence), and Moe Bar-El (Honour).

In other Alien news, a sequel to Romulus is also being worked on, although there is no release date set just yet.
