Analysts Predict Gta Vi Will Earn Us$1 Billion Just from Pre-orders

There’s no two ways about it. When it comes to gaming, GTA VI or Grand Theft Auto VI is the most anticipated game for 2025. With a release date far removed from GTA V, which has already been available on three generations of platforms, many are eager to see what Rockstar Games has prepared for with so many years of development, and that sentiment is shared by many who predict huge sales numbers to come.

One of those is the video game analyst group – DFC Intelligence, and in their latest report to the Financial Times, they predict that GTA VI will be the most significant media release of 2025. Notably, they forecast that the game will generate up to US$3.2 billion in its first year, with US$1 billion of that coming solely from pre-orders.

Those are large numbers, even for Rockstar standards, but it will certainly be music to the ears of the studio and the executives pushing the game along. While refraining from commenting directly on this analysis, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick emphasised Rockstar Games’ commitment to delivering something phenomenal with the latest series instalment, and is understanding of the hype surrounding GTA VI.

Not many titles can even come close to the numbers generated by the crime franchise in the industry, and all of the excitement stems from just a few videos and screenshots. It is a privileged position to be in, and one that many studios would love to be in. With that being said, it remains to be seen just which games will be finding themselves in the path of this juggernaut.

A vague 2025 release window for GTA VI has been pencilled in for both Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and a PC version will likely follow. Perhaps those predicted numbers won’t be so far-fetched after all.
