Assassin’s Creed Shadows Main Story to Take Only 30-40 Hours

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Will Offer a Main Story Duration of 30-40 Hours, with Completionists Requiring Around 80 Hours to Finish Everything.

Whether you are a fan of the franchise or not, a new Assassin’s Creed game is always worth taking note of. And with Ubisoft preparing players to return to feudal Japan with the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the excitement is building even higher. One of the key concerns for more modern iterations has been length, and for Shadows, it seems like the studios have taken heed.

In an interview between Genki_JPN, creative director Jonathan Dumont shed more light on just how long he expects players to be spending time in the game’s main story. Previous entries could take more than 60-odd hours to complete everything, but that is not the case this time around.

Comparable to Assassin’s Creed Origins but seemingly shorter than Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will likely require approximately 30-40 hours to complete its main narrative. For completionists aiming to earn every trophy and finish all content, Dumont estimates around 80 hours of gameplay.

It is even more interesting that Ubisoft is also planning to introduce a New Game+ mode later on, provided there is enough demand from the community. However, there are no details yet on what kind of experience players can expect from it.

During the same discussion, Dumont revealed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows draws inspiration from several samurai films, including 13 Assassins, Sekigahara, Zatoichi, and, of course, the works of Akira Kurosawa. However, Ubisoft has also infused the game with the signature Assassin’s Creed flavor, including a fresh Animus storyline.

Dumont also shared that Assassin’s Creed Shadows will feature a Dynamic Cutting System, designed to make katana combat feel more realistic. Players can slice through various objects, which will be cut precisely where the blade strikes. This system is also expected to have a direct impact on gameplay.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set to launch on March 20, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
