Capcom is Killing off Resident Evil Re:verse This June

Capcom has been enjoying a golden era lately, driven by the consistent success of the Resident Evil series in terms of remakes and new instalments, and even for the movies. However, it has not always been the case of a 100% hit rate, as there was an attempt at capitalising on the live service trend with Resident Evil Re:Verse.

Often criticised and failing to get the numbers it required, Capcom has finally given up on the project, announcing the official shutdown of Resident Evil Re:Verse.

“This is to inform you that service will be ending for Resident Evil Re:Verse, which comes packaged with a purchase of Resident Evil Village for PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, or Steam. The application and all of its related DLC will no longer be available for download or purchase,” said the blog post.

Resident Evil Re:Verse was developed in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Resident Evil series, and your overwhelming support for the game has far exceeded our expectations since the time of its release. Now that we’ve reached a new turning point for the series, we feel that Resident Evil Re:Verse has served its original, celebratory purpose admirably.”

On June 29, the multiplayer game that brings together numerous protagonists and antagonists from the entire Resident Evil franchise will no longer be playable. Capcom will also remove the game as a bonus for purchasing Resident Evil Village.

Players will no longer be able to download Resident Evil Re:Verse from any online store starting March 3. Additionally, paid DLCs containing cosmetic items will no longer be available for purchase on the same date.

For those who are curious, you can still download and try Resident Evil Re:Verse, which is currently available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
