Capcom Seeking to Lower Monster Hunter Wilds PC Requirements

Monster Hunter Wilds Pc Requirements

Since transitioning to the RE Engine, starting with Resident Evil 7 several years ago, Capcom has often been praised for the level of optimisation for the PC versions of titles. Almost all games using this engine can deliver superb visuals and super-smooth framerates without demanding too much of PCs. Unfortunately, this likely won’t be the case with their latest title, Monster Hunter Wilds.

From the moment it was announced, Capcom had set high PC specification requirements for the latest entry in the beloved franchise. Even if your rig is relatively new, the game can only be played at what is considered lower resolutions by today’s standards – 720p and 1080p, while technologies like DLSS and FSR help to upscale what you see on screen at the lowest settings.

The truth came home to roost as players on PC experienced the recent beta, with many wary of the performance of the game when playing on rigs that are not pushing the limits. The good news? Capcom is well aware of this situation.

Through their German account on Twitter/X, Capcom acknowledged that they are working to lower the PC specifications for Monster Hunter Wilds, particularly in terms of GPU requirements. Additionally, they are considering releasing a separate benchmarking tool to help gamers test their rigs before diving into Wilds. However, at this point, this is still just a plan.

How the gaming giant is hoping to do this remains to be seen, and hopefully, they are able to strike a nice balance between optimisation and performance that enables more players to jump into the fray. After all, hunting monsters shouldn’t be an activity that is reserved just for those with powerful PCs. Alternatively, there is always the option of console play so you don’t have to worry about fulfilling requirements.

Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled for release on February 28, with the second beta phase also planned for early and mid-next month.
