Creative Assembly Announces Alien: Isolation Sequel a Decade on

With October surely comes the spooks, but before you start screaming in fear, why not try screaming in joy, especially if you are an Alien franchise fan? Other than the excellent Alien: Romulus that took to the big screens recently, the video game world is also gearing up for more acidic fun, as Creative Assembly has shocked the world by announcing a sequel for Alien: Isolation.

“On the 10th anniversary, it seems only fitting to let you know that we have heard your distress calls loud and clear,” Al Hope, the original game’s creative director, shared on Twitter/X. “Today, I’m delighted to confirm, on behalf of the team, that a sequel to Alien: Isolation is in early development. We look forward to sharing more details with you when we’re ready.”

Considering it has been ten years since that game, this is either a pleasant surprise or a reveal that doesn’t move the needle one bit. For fans of horror, it is more likely that your reaction falls into the former category, with the Xenomorph set to step into the spotlight once more.

For those who are unfamiliar with Alien: Isolation, it puts players in the quaking boots of Amanda Ripley, daughter of the heroine in the films. Stuck on a space station with the ever-menacing Xenomorph for company, it is a deadly game of cat-and-mouse as players try to avoid certain death while the monster continuously finds new ways of delivering you to the afterlife.

While the gameplay may not have worked for everyone, the overall visual and audio design was among the best at creating the unnerving atmosphere and tension that have been the mainstays of the films. Whether that is the same direction Creative Assembly is taking with the sequel remains to be seen, but Alien: Isolation definitely deserves more, and fans have something to anticipate now.
