Flagship SEGA Store Tokyo Opening its Doors in Shibuya in July

Following its foray into the Chinese market with the world’s first official SEGA store in Shanghai, the Japanese gaming company is now looking closer to home with its next endeavour. The SEGA Store Tokyo, the first retail outlet in Japan, will open at Shibuya PARCO on July 18.

Located on the sixth floor of the building in the heart of Shibuya, it is in the perfect location. The area is popular amongst those who are into video games, manga, and the latest media trends, with CYBERSPACE SHIBUYA, a hub for Japanese entertainment and culture, particularly popular with tourists and locals alike.

This new flagship store will house a wide range of goodies for SEGA fans, including a vast selection of items such as SEGA/Atlus’ popular character goods and exclusive merchandise.

What to Expect at the SEGA Store Tokyo

The aesthetics will instantly stand out the moment you lay your eyes on the storefront. SEGA’s own unique spin is complemented by Shibuya-inspired visuals and 3D holograms, transforming the space and immersing you in everything SEGA.

Then there is the merchandise, where exclusives await fans to grab. The first is the Sonic the Hedgehog x Kosuke Kawamura SEGA Store Exclusive Toy.

The beloved mascot has been reinterpreted and designed by collage artist Kosuke Kawamura. This is a limited collection available exclusively at SEGA STORE, featuring designs that incorporate Kawamura’s iconic shredder art and collage techniques. The blue blur is also becoming a collectible BE@RBRICK, coming in a new chrome version with both 100% and 400% sizes.

The SEGA Store will also introduce the first series of the Cooro collection, where stuffed plush versions of your favourite characters are yours to bring everywhere you go. SEGA Cooro’s first collection brings together familiar faces from Sonic the Hedgehog — Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Shadow, and Dr. Eggman — alongside Ichiban Kasuga, Kazuma Kiryu, and Goro Majima from Like a Dragon!

To celebrate its grand opening, SEGA Store Tokyo will be giving away free SEGA tumblers with any purchase of ¥7,000 or more. Each will come in a random colour: white, black, silver, or the rare gold. Visitors who drop by the store from July 18 to 21 can also meet Sonic in person.
