It is never easy trying to make a roleplaying game that appeals to folks not invested in the genre, but the reveal of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 definitely turned heads. With its visually stunning art direction and a fantasy world full of tension, this turn-based RPG is set to captivate players and lure them into conflict with the Paintress. And you won’t have to wait too long either, as the game has been dated for April 24.
At the Xbox Developer Direct, Sandfall Interactive was on hand to show off nearly three minutes of gameplay, once again cementing it as a game to look forward to in 2025.
The latest gameplay trailer introduced two new characters – Monoco and Esquie. Unlike other characters, Monoco comes with the ability to mimic enemies and utilise their skills against them. Meanwhile, Esquie will play a crucial role in exploration, enabling party members to climb, swim, and even fly as they check out what the world has to offer.
The combat, which already looks flashy and engaging, will involve quick-time events as well, making sure you are always dialled in to avoid taking damage and dishing out the hurt in all your encounters. Add to that a comprehensive skill tree, and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 will likely take up a significant chunk of your gaming time.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Collector’s Edition
This RPG also offers a Collector’s Edition for PlayStation 5 gamers who are interested. In addition to the game itself, this collection will also contain:
